Valerie provides vision and leadership for student services and campus life through the development and delivery of programs and services that encourage and enhance student learning in and out of the classroom. She leads a Student Services team that creates an environment where all aspects of student learning is nurtured and academic excellence is the standard.

Valerie’s work in higher education, corporate, community and public education spans over two decades. Prior to her appointment at River Valley Community College, she served as Associate Vice President for Community & Corporate Affairs and Director of the Pease Tradeport Academic Center of NHCTC Stratham/Portsmouth. The consortium combined resources and expertise to expand, enhance and foster professional development and education in one geographic location.

While employed with a Fortune 500 firm in upstate New York, Valerie participated in a demonstration project with Cornell University. The results of this involvement were documented and helped frame the federal School-to-Work legislation of 1992. After a move to New Hampshire in the mid-90s, she consulted with the state's Career Development Bureau of the NH Department of Education. She worked closely with K-12 educators, business and industry professionals, and community leaders facilitating school and business partnerships to benefit classroom curricula, student career exploration initiatives, and teacher externship experiences. She also collaborated with the then NHCTC Biotechnology Education & Training Center facilitating high school teacher professional development and biotechnology curricula at the secondary level.

Valerie is active in community affairs and is a director on the boards of the New Hampshire Bio/Medical Council, Inc., and Upper Valley Business and Education Partnership, Inc. She is also Vice-Chair of the Claremont School Reinvestment Committee, a subcommittee of the SAU 56 School Board, and member of its Long-Range Task Force subcommittee. She has actively served in director capacities on other boards including the Somersworth (NH) Main Street, Inc., and NH chapter of the Association of Training & Development.
